Japa Meditation Class Description
This type of meditation can be done while sitting on a cushion or a chair, doing activities, or as part of a worship in group settings. It is a repetition of a mantra or a divine name.
To quiet and focus the mind, mantras are used. A mantra can be a single-syllable sound, word or phrase that is repeated silently or chanted aloud. Japa is a Sanskrit word that means “muttering” or “repeating in a murmuring tone.”
